The spirit of Mali city of Tombouctou and its heritage legacy were restituted on stage in Tamanrasset, during a concert given Sunday by diva Khaira Arby. During the show, staged as part of the 4th International Festival Tin Hinan-Abalessa of Arts of Ahaggar, music, dance, poetry and instrument breath Timbuktu culture in all its diversity an authenticity. This show which makes the public virtually travelling from the Tidessi site (10km of Tamanrasset) was not planned but improvised in one day to replace the Jamaican reggae singer Max Roméo, who “cancelled his show at the last minute for security reasons." With her powerful and crystal clear voice and her imposing presence on stage, Khaira Arby sun in every spoken language in her city, the beauty of the desert, spirit of Timbuktu while denouncing the abuses against women and illiteracy, the whole thing with jazzy and rock melodies which sometimes accompanies the Diva compositions with tindé, the calabash or handmade guitar.
