SIBF explores the spiritual and cultural value of Birmingham

The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), in its 36th edition, held a discussion session to the Quranic manuscript of Birmingham.

The date of writing of the manuscript dated between 568 and 645 AD, with an accuracy of 95.4%. It is probably one of the oldest copies of the Quran in the world.

Suzan Wurall, Director of Special Groups at Birmingham University in the United Kingdom, said, ''We unveiled at Birmingham University this rare manuscript dating back to the reign of the Third Caliph, Osman ibn Affan, for the first time in July 2015.'' She added, the University has a large number of rare Islamic and Middle Eastern manuscripts, which exceeds the number of three thousand manuscripts.

In line with the selection of the United Kingdom as a guest of honour for the 36th edition of the SIBF, the Qur'anic manuscript of Birmingham is now being displayed through a digital platform that allows visitors to learn everything about it.
