Iraqi calligraphers in Najaf province have been racing against time with the aim of writing the longest copy of Qur\'an in the world. The aim of the group is to set a Guinness World Record with the copy written on a 5.5 metre-long scroll. Speaking to AA in Baghdad, calligrapher Hussein al-Kharsan said that 9 tons of papers would be used in order to create the copy. Hussein al-Kharsan said they had only completed one third of the copy though they had been working on it for a year.
