General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) Tareq Sayed Tawfiq said that the statue of King Akhenaton of the 18th Dynasty was moved to the museum.

In statements on Tuesday, Tawfiq said that two statues of King Amenhotep II and King Thutmose III, in addition to 850 artifacts of the Middle Kingdom (2030–1640 B.C.) and the New Kingdom (1549–1069 BC) were also moved to the museum.

The statues will be displayed at the partial inauguration of the museum by the end of 2017, he added.

For his part, General manager of preliminary restoration at GEM Eissa Zidan said that an archaeological team finalized a detailed report on the condition of the statues ahead of receiving them.

Some artifacts, including the collection of King Tutankhamun of the 18th dynasty, will be renovated before being displayed at the museum, Zidan said, noting that the restoration work may take months
