The General Secretariat of Gulf Cooperation Council organized Wednesday a workshop on the role of youth in society building in the Bahraini capital Manama.
"Building the capacity especially of youth is a top priority for the GCC," Secretary General of the pan-Gulf council Abdullatif Al-Zayani said at the opening session of the workshop.
Al-Zayani said the GCC General Secretariat is organizing regular events to listen to youth's proposals and complaints to help them increase their contribution to their societies.
The workshop, themed 'Society Building and Youth Initiatives', focuses on the role of youth in community building and development, means to harness youth's skills and help them launch their own initiatives and businesses. It will also touch upon the challenges confronting youngsters in the GCC states.
"In youth are the real investment for the future," Kuwait Ambassador in Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah told KUNA on the sidelines of the workshop.
He added that the workshop serves as a platform for GCC youth to better communicate, exchange ideas and expertise as well as to constructively debate their role in the community.
