A host of activities have been planned around \'Out of Britain, a contemporary landscape art exhibition\', currently on display at the Bait Al Zubair Museum until December 19. Organised by the British Council Oman and the Bait Al Zubair Museum and Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Education and Trowers & Hamlins, the exhibition aims to inculcate arts skills among teachers in schools. This skill development programme will enable art teachers to use exhibitions more effectively to engage their students with art. Dr. Hanan Al Shihi, director-general of International Education programme office at the Ministry of Education, said:  \"Art education is very important in creating a good learner.  Research has shown that art education provides learners with many benefits ranging from fine motor skills to creativity and improved emotional balance. \"It also promotes their self esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness and emotional expression. In Oman, students study arts throughout their 12 years of schooling and the ministry has always been very keen to develop the skills of fine arts teachers and keep them updated with new techniques.\" Dr. Hanan said the British Council has always been one of the major partners of the Ministry of Education.
