When the first phase of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery goes on stream Iran will turn into a gasoline exporter, Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi says. Qasemi made the remarks while visiting the Persian Gulf Star Refinery in Bandar Abbas on Thursday. Qasemi who visited the Persian Gulf Star gas condensate refinery in Bandar Abbas said the Persian Gulf Star The Persian Gulf Star as the largest gas condensate refiner in the country would refine 120,000 barrels of gas condensate per day either by the end of this year or the beginning of the next year. The minister said the refinery is 50 percent complete. He also said, “Our local experts are constructing the Persian Gulf Star Refinery in three phases, and we have earmarked 2.6 billion euros for the project.” He added that the development plan of the Bandar Abbas Oil Refinery is one the most important goals of the Oil Ministry and by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2013), 3 million liters of gasoline will be added to the daily capacity of the refinery. The Bandar Abbas Oil Refinery currently produces 9.5 million liters of gasoline.
