Central Tenders Committee Chairman Ahmad Al-Kuleib said Monday three Kuwaiti companies have won a multi-billion clean fuel project for the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). In statements to KUNA, Al-Kuleib said that the total cost of the mega project amounts to KD 3.395 billion (over USD 12 billion). He added that the contract comprises engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and assistance during preparation works for operation, operation works, test performance for clean fuel project at Kuwait National Petroleum Company. The project is designed also to upgrade Mina Al-Ahmadi, Mina Abdulla 1 and Mina Abdulla 2 refineries to produce clean fuel and to increase their daily output. Al-Kuleib said that each of the three companies have won a contract to upgrade and produce clean fuel at one of the three refineries. The first company was awarded Mina Al-Ahmadi clean fuel contract which stipulates the completion of the project in 44 months at a total cost of KD 1. 36 billion, he said. The two other companies were awarded the clean fuel contracts of Mina Abdulla 1 and Mina Abdulla 2 refineries at total costs of KD 1.07 billion and KD 962 million respectively, he added, noting that the two contracts would be implemented in 45 months.
