UAE an international model to follow in support for women

Reem Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has stated that children in the UAE are receiving the ideal level of care, due to the full support of the wise leadership and the monitoring of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, with regards to the care and protection of children and their mothers.

In a speech marking Universal Children’s Day, she said that the UAE had become an international model to follow in providing women and children with education, protection and health care, which will enable them to become future leaders and contribute to the process of sustainable social and economic development.

She added that the UAE is among the world’s leading countries in promoting joint action and launching initiatives and campaigns that target women, children and adolescents around the world, due to the directives of the wise leadership and the support of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

Al Falasi explained that the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood has launched several initiatives and programmes that benefit mothers and children, while adding that the UAE has hosted many international conferences on childhood, including the consultative meetings of experts that were held in both February 2015 and 2016, under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima. She also highlighted the "Every Woman, Every Child" movement was launched during one of these meeting in Abu Dhabi in 2015.

She went on to say that the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood seeks to cooperate with its partners, the GWU and the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, to hold workshops and conferences that will address all issues related to children, to provide them with a suitable environment for a happy life, as well as a proper education, and prepare them for the future.

Al Falasi concluded by further highlighting Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak's support for children and their right to receive medical treatment, adding that Her Highness also helped in establishing field hospitals and launching a campaign to treat one million children.
