Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women's Union, GWU, said the UAE’s largest women’s organisation is striving to implement the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, for the empowerment of Emirati women in all domains with an emphasis on economic sectors.
Al Suwaidi met Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Director of the Communications Office of the UN Women in Abu Dhabi, and Reem Abdul Rahim Bin Karam, Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment, NAMA, to explore the possibilities and the mechanisms of enhancing co-operation between the three organisations for the empowerment of women.
Dr. Al Shehhi said the Communications Office of the UN Women in Abu Dhabi is working to formulate strategies that primarily serve the advancement of women in different sectors.
''The focus of this joint co-operation between the GWU, UN Women and NAMA is on vital economic, social and professional sectors,'' she added.
The meeting also witnessed discussions on preparations for the 'Women Economic Empowerment' summit, which NAMA and UN Women will jointly host in November in Sharjah.
The UN Women Communications Office was established in Abu Dhabi through a partnership between the GWU and UN Women.
