Bahrain's CEDAW report on track: SCW.

The national team tasked to prepare Bahrain’s fourth report regarding the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), has held a meeting at the Supreme Council of Women (SCW)’s headquarters .
The team includes representatives from the relevant ministries, governmental and private institutions

The SCW Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari who chaired the meeting reiterated the Kingdom’s keenness on the implementation of its international obligations especially the implementation of CEDAW, adding that the constructive dialogue with CEDAW continues to monitor the Bahraini women’s progress in all fields and the efforts will continue to cope with any challenges.

Al Ansari praised the team members for their efforts in preparation of the report in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to produce a complete document that monitors all the achievements regarding the status of women in Bahrain over the recent period that exceeded the demands and remarks of the United Nations’ CEDAW committee or the convention itself.

Al Ansari reviewed the progress of Bahraini women internationally, reasserting the SCW’s keenness to project the national efforts aimed to ensure the steady progress of women and increase their competitiveness as competent and indispensable partners in the nation’s building, and showcase Bahrain’s experience via the inclusion of women’s needs in the development process and achieved equal opportunities for them.

Bahraini women's progress includes the launch of the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Empowering Women, UN Women Office in Bahrain, and membership in international committees, such as UN Women and CSW.
