Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the ministry discussed the matter with student representatives during the National Student Consultative Council meeting here, Monday. \"Among the matters we discussed were programmes such as KR1M and the 1Malaysia People\'s Menu, which we will consider expanding to the universities,\" he said. \"The suggestion was well received and Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who was present, said he would look into how it could be implemented,\" he elaborated after the meeting. Also present at the meeting was Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. He commented that it made sense to expand the KR1M initiative, introduced by the government to ease the high cost of living for the people, to the universities. On another note, he informed that the ministry was currently monitoring the situation of Malaysian students in Egypt, with the country\'s imminent elections expected to take place on Nov 28. The ministry has also contacted the Malaysian Students Department there to advise students to be cautious, he added. Media reports have recorded two deaths so far in clashes between Egyptian police and demonstrators in the country yesterday.
