The Ninth GCC Medical Education Conference was recently hosted at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) themed "Needs, Challenges and Opportunities" in the presence of Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Noaimi and Health Minister Mister Sadiq bin Abdul-Kareem Al-Shehabi. The conference participants recommended the importance of provision of appropriate academic environment for student creativity in the education process and dealing with medical students as partners in educational decision-making and not only as recipients. The AGU Deputy Dean for Higher Studies and Academic Research cum Head of the Conference Organizing Committee Dr. Randa Hamada said that the conference in which circa 500 academicians, physicians, researchers and students from medical and health science colleges participated came up with important conclusions which could enrich medical education and its advancement especially if medical and science students could be engaged in drafting future strategies as these young men and women can decide futuristic trends in academic medical research.
