Nearly 311,791 schoolchildren and 31,097 staff members are set to return to school when the second trimester begins at public and private schools in the capital tomorrow. The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) said in a statement yesterday that schools are fully prepared to welcome pupils, and have also ensured the availability of any new textbooks that are required. Facilities Mohammad Salem Al Daheri, Executive Director of School Operations at ADEC, also said that four newly-constructed school buildings are ready to receive public school pupils from the start of the trimester. Article continues below \"These buildings will cater to the pupils of Mubarak Bin Mohammad School in Al Bateen Area (Cycle 1) and Al Khatim Girls School (kindergarten and Cycles 1, 2 and 3), both of which are in Abu Dhabi city. In addition, pupils of Al Jahili School (Cycle 3) and Mariam Bint Sultan School (Cycle 3) in Al Ain will also be housed in the new buildings,\" Al Daheri said. Nearly 126,207 pupils are presently enrolled at 268 public schools and kindergartens in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, while another 185,584 pupils attend 183 private schools.
