All schools are in lockdown in the U.S. city of Ridgefield because of a suspicious person, local daily Hartford Courant quoted police as saying Monday. The city, in the state of Connecticut, is some 30 km from Newtown, where a 20-year-old gunman on Friday killed 26 people, including 20 children, in an elementary school after killing his mother at home and before killing himself. No further information is now available. The newspaper noted in its online report that Connecticut schools are in a heightened state of alert on the first day of school since the Newtown school tragedy.
