Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera is launching a new iPhone app for its English news service, including breaking news, opinion, features and same-day access to features. Live streaming of 24 hour news broadcasts free of charge will also be provided to viewers, and easy uploading will allow citizen reporters to instantaneously submit and share content. "Mobile is rapidly becoming one of the most important platforms for accessing breaking news," said Al Anstey, managing director, Al Jazeera English. "The launch of Al Jazeera English's new iPhone app reflects the channel's strong commitment to providing our in depth and eye witness news coverage through multiple platforms."
