Japan's Sharp

Japanese electronics giant Sharp said Friday its net loss widened in the three months to June, as the embattled firm struggles through a restructuring and weak sales of its display panels and smartphones.

Osaka-based Sharp reported a 33.98 billion yen ($274 million) shortfall, well up from 1.79 billion yen in the same period last year.

However, it kept a full year target of 80 billion yen in operating profit on sales of 2.8 trillion yen. It did not give a net profit target.
