Venezuela's Supreme Court stripped the opposition-dominated legislature of key oversight powers Tuesday in a ruling aimed at thwarting moves to change the makeup of the high court.

The Supreme Court's constitutional panel said the National Assembly's oversight role was limited to the executive, and did not extend to the courts or the country's electoral bodies.
