Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu

Turkey is willing to work with all countries, including Russia, to find a political solution in Syria and defeat the Islamic State extremist group, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Monday.

"Now what we need to do is having solidarity with all the countries, including Russia, to make a transition in Syria a peaceful transition," he told reporters on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

"In the new Syria, there should not be any place for (Syrian President Bashar al-) Assad or Daesh," he said, referring to the Islamic State group.
