Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman escaped through a tunnel that was found in the shower space of his prison cell, authorities said Sunday.

National Security Commissioner Monte Alejandro Rubido said 18 prison guards will be interrogated by prosecutors after Guzman fled late Saturday through a hole, which led to a 1.5-kilometer (one-mile) tunnel.
