Indian soldiers

One of 10 Indian soldiers feared dead in a Himalayan avalanche six days ago at Siachen Glacier in the remote Himalayas has been miraculously rescued alive, officials said.

"In the ongoing rescue operation at Siachen, of the ten soldiers buried... has been found alive," General D.S. Hooda from the army's northern command said in a statement Monday.

He added that the soldier was in critical condition and officials would try to evacuate him from the mountain Tuesday morning. He said the nine other soldiers were confirmed dead.
