Paris denied Monday that a military plane which flew "dangerously close" to a passenger jet carrying a Russian parliamentary delegation was French, saying it was actually Swiss.

"It was a Swiss plane, an F18, and no French military plane is involved," the foreign ministry told AFP, after Moscow summoned the French ambassador to explain the incident.
