A Palestinian in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron attempted to stab an Israeli soldier on Wednesday and was shot, the army said, without specifying the extent of the alleged assailant's injuries.

"A Palestinian attempted to stab a soldier at a military position in Hebron," it said in a statement. "Attacker shot on site."
