The military and police were deployed

At least three people were killed in clashes in Burundi Thursday in protests over the president's bid for a third term, according to AFP journalists and the Red Cross.

AFP journalists saw two corpses, one shot in the head, the other burned. The Red Cross said one person had been killed by a grenade hurled during clashes between demonstrators, police and government supporters. It takes the total killed since protest began on April 26 to 17, including protesters and police.
