Fierce clashes renew between SDF, Daesh militants in Raqqa

Fierce clashes renewed on Wednesday between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Daesh militants in Raqqa, the main stronghold of the militant group in Syria, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The clashes erupted after the Syrian forces managed to take control of Rasheed district in Raqqa city, coming one step closer to clearing the city from Daesh control.
The clashes coincided with a bombing by the US-led international coalition of militants' positions in the city.
At least 78 Syrian women and children were killed in air raids carried out by the international coalition over several districts in Raqqa.
The UN estimates about 25,000 people are still trapped in Raqqa, the de facto capital of Daesh’s self-declared caliphate.
