Iraqi forces kill 36 Daesh militants in al-Anbar

Iraqi forces killed 36 Daesh militants in Al Anbar province in western Iraq on Sunday, a security source said.

In coordination with Iraqi Air Force, the ground troops raided a depot of weapons owned by the militant group, destroying it fully and killing ten militants inside, the source said in press statements.

Acting upon a tip off, the army artillery also shelled an area in western Al Anbar, killing 26 terrorists and destroying two vehicles.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi launched on May 26 an operation to liberate Al Anbar from militants' control with the participation of armed forces, police, popular mobilization units and clan fighters.

Ramadi, capital of Al Anbar, fell to the control of Daesh on May 15 after they attacked the city with booby-trapped vehicles and suicide bombers, forcing security forces to pull back.
