Iraq parliament speaker escapes assassination attempt

Iraq's Parliament Speaker Osama Nujaifi on Sunday escaped an assassination attempt when a roadside bomb targeted his convoy in Kirkuk province, north of Baghdad. No casualties were reported and the speaker was not harmed in the bomb attack, a security source told KUNA. Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Al-Mutlak had survived an assassination attempt on Friday in the Abu Ghraib area west of Baghdad.
