Baghdad - KUNA

Five bombings in Baghdad, including an attack on a glitzy new shopping mall in the west of the capital, killed 14 people and wounded several others on Saturday, officials said. The blasts struck in the neighbourhoods of Mansur, Nahda, Taubchi, Sarafiyah and Amriyah -- all across the capital. The spate of coordinated bombings come just days after a similar series of attacks across the capital killed 37 people, the latest in a protracted surge in nationwide bloodshed that has sparked worries that Iraq is slipping back into all-out sectarian war. It comes as the army is locked in a deadly standoff with militants and anti-government tribesmen in two cities in Anbar province, on Baghdad's doorstep, just months ahead of national parliamentary elections.
