A senior police officer, Muhammad Bashir, told media that the unknown militants attacked Bedar's house on Eid day in Tarnao area of Lower Dir killing at least six people.
The former minister belonging to political party Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) was not hurt in the attack but six people including Bedar's brother and two police officers were killed.
