
A fire in a shopping mall in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore killed at least 13 people, UPI quoted security officials as telling local media Tuesday.
The fire broke out at a four-storey shopping plaza in Anarkali market, the oldest shopping area in the city, on Monday evening, rescue official Jam Sajjad Hussain told The Express Tribune newspaper.
Thirteen people, including a woman and a child, were killed, Amjad Shahzad, a doctor at a local Mayo hospital was quoted as saying, with most dying of suffocation and some due to burns.
Rescue officials blamed an electrical short circuit for the fire.
