Tom Cruise
Los Angeles - Arab Today

Hollywood star Tom Cruise retweeted news about archaeologists in Egypt uncovering “a necropolis with at least 17 mummies,” to promote his new movie “The Mummy.”
The 54-year-old actor, who plays Nick Morton in the summer thriller, tweeted, “Be careful opening those things,” to the delight of his Egyptian fans.
His buzz was retweeted by more than 1,800 fans and liked by 4,400 fans.
“Come to Egypt, Tom please. The Mummy needs a premiere here,” wrote one fan.
“OMG OMG as an Egyptian I am freaking out right now,” wrote another.
One user tweeted: “We hoped that you filmed your movie in Egypt.”
The Ministry of Antiquities recently announced that an archaeological mission unearthed a burial chamber dating back to the 13th Dynasty Pyramid discovered in Dahshur archaeological site. The necropolis was first detected last year by a team of Cairo University students using radar.
Cruise cleverly used the opportunity to tie the real-life event with the theme of his upcoming thriller.
The tweet comes amid heavy promotion for the film, about a week before Cruise appears in person at The Mummy Day, a May 20 event in Los Angeles.
The reboot tells the story of an ancient Egyptian princess named Ahmanet, played by Algerian-French actress Sofia Boutella, waking up from “her crypt beneath the desert,” wielding “terrors that defy human comprehension.”
