South Indian actor seriously hurt in road mishap

South Indian comic Jagathy Sreekumar has been seriously hurt in a road accident early Saturday, police in Kerala have confirmed. The Malayalam actor, 62, who has starred in more than 1,000 films, has been admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode and put on ventilator, doctors confirmed to news agency IANS. “He has injuries in the neck, chest, abdomen and and if necessary he will have to undergo a surgery,’’ Venugopal, chief of the 10 member panel of doctors treating the actor told reporters. According to the police, the accident occurred near the Kozhikode University campus around 4.30a.m, when the car carrying Sreekumar hit a divider. While the driver of the car escaped with minor injuries, the actor was badly hurt. Sreekumar was on his way from Thrissur in northern Kerala to Coorg in Karnataka to film director Lenin Rajendran’s latest project.
