Los Angeles - UPI
Actor Johnny Lewis had a history of violent behavior and substance abuse before he allegedly beat to death his elderly landlady, The Hollywood Reporter said. The "Sons of Anarchy" and "The O.C." star was found dead Wednesday in the driveway of a Los Angeles home he had been renting. Police said they believe Lewis was high on drugs when he dismembered his 81-year-old landlady's cat before killing the woman, then attacked two bystanders before jumping or falling to his death. TMZ said singer Katy Perry's ex-boyfriend previously served time in jail for multiple assaults and breaking into a home. Lewis, 28, also was court-ordered to complete a stint in rehab. He was released from jail Sept. 21. "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter took to Twitter Thursday to confirm how troubled the actor had been in the past. "wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not," Sutter tweeted. "i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path."
