Singer Janet Jackson has reportedly split from husband Wissam Al Mana just months after giving birth to her first child.

While one source said the split is amicable and the couple will co-parent their son, others said trouble had been brewing for months.

“She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts,” said the source.

Other demands that the singer gave in to included toning down her 2014 concert tour by wearing clothing that covered her body, instead of the usual revealing outfits.

Jackson also resented the reclusiveness of her husband, who rarely met her friends or family, the source said.

Still, the couple hoped a baby would help.

They welcomed their son, Eissa Al Mana, on January 3 after nearly five years of marriage.

In 2012, aAfter much deliberation over whether to have a lavish wedding, Jackson gave in to Al Mana’s demands for a simple and private ceremony, sources said.

Jackson even made London her home after Al Mana, a billionaire Qatari businessman, insisted the family live under strict Muslim customs, which included prohibiting the new mother from being seen in public while nursing the baby.

The source was not aware of any prenuptial agreement and declined to say whether Jackson would seek spousal or child support.

Jackson performed at the Dubai World Cup on March 26 last year.

In April 2016, the Rhythm Nation songstress postponed her Unbreakable World Tour to start planning for a family of her own at the age of 50. Since becoming a mum, Jackson has remained in London.

A source told E! News at the time of her newborn’s birth that “Janet and her baby are doing well. She has hired help at home and her husband has been with her through it all. It was a difficult pregnancy but she is very blessed and has a healthy baby. She has great doctors. A select few have seen her baby. She is so excited to be a mum.”

Another insider shared of her current state: “She is a really zen person. She is in her element. She loves being a mum and this is what she has been waiting her whole life for.”
