Directors Guild reaches tentative contract agreement

The Directors Guild of America reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, members said. Details of the three-year agreement were not released but were scheduled to be presented to the DGA's national board Saturday, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday. Secretary-Treasurer Michael Apted, fifth Vice President Thomas Schlamme and national Executive Director Jay D. Roth negotiated on behalf of the DGA, and AMPTP President Carol Lombardini represented the studios, The Hollywood Reporter said. The DGA's current contract expires June 30, but the organization tends to begin negotiations six months in advance to avoid a labor disruptions, the Times reported. Should the DGA national board approve the agreement, it will likely go before the membership for ratification in January, The Hollywood Reporter said.
