Greensboro - UPI
Three former band mates of U.S. rock singer Chris Daughtry are suing him, alleging he defrauded them of proceeds from four songs they say they helped write. Bassist Ryan Andrews, drummer Scott Crawford and guitarist Mark Perry filed suit Thursday in Guilford County Superior Court in North Carolina against the 32-year-old Daughtry. The suit accuses Daughtry of "constructive fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, unfair trade practices, and other deceptive and wrongful conduct," the News and Record, Greensboro, N.C., reported. Daughtry, who gained stardom in 2006 after appearing on the TV singing competition "American Idol," said in a statement Friday he was "very hurt by these false accusations." "The songs listed in this lawsuit were written solely by me and no one else," he said. "And at this time, I have no further comment." Daughtry has become a staple on Top 40 radio with hits such as "Home," "It's Not Over" and "No Surprise."
