Arab Today, arab today Turkey: finance minister calls EU hypocritical

Ankara - ANSA

The European Union is ''the world's most hypocritical institution'' and undeserving of the Nobel peace prize, Anadolu news agency reported Turkish Finance Minister Zafer Caglayan as saying on Tuesday. ''The EU has kept Turkey waiting at its doorstep for 50 years,'' the minister said. ''It continues to impose tariffs on Turkish goods and trucks. It requires visas from Turkish businessmen, in spite of the fact that Ankara has signed on to the Customs Union. This is a crime against humanity, when visas are not imposed on Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Montenegro or the Ukraine. I dispute the Nobel peace prize to the EU, because it commits crimes against humanity and engages in dishonest trading competition.''
