The UN Development Program (UNDP) will hold, under auspices of the Governor of the Bank of Sudan a Regional Workshop on Micro-Finance and Good Practicing during March 11 - 13 at Corinthia Hotel. The workshop will tackle methodological and application issues and the experiment of the Bank of Sudan in development of the micro-finance sector as well as the ongoing cooperation between the Bank of Sudan and UNDP and the partnership between the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank, the Social Development Institution of Khartoum State and the Saving and Social Development Bank. The workshop is expected to end with setting the Somalia Roadmap for revitalizing and expanding the Islamic micro-finance. The workshop will be attended by representatives from neighboring countries, including Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya, besides representatives of the micro-finance institutions operating in Sudan. Chairman of the Micro-Finance Unit, Prof. Badr-Eddin Abdul-Rahim said that holding of the workshop in Khartoum in recognition of Sudan and its Central Bank in the micro-finance funding sector toward expanding this experiment in African countries.
