Dubai - Arabstoday

Dubai residents and organisations have been urged to go paperless when opting for their utility bills in support of the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority’s efforts to go green. In a bid to conserve natural resources, enhance customer satisfaction and push forward its green concepts in billing systems, Dewa this week announced the launch of the second phase of its paperless electronic invoicing system GreenBill.First unveiled in August 2012, the GreenBill is an electronic version of the regular paper bill, where customers will receive monthly emails, instead of pages and pages in hand. The second phase of the GreenBill further underlines the success achieved during the first stage, and the launch of the service last year: “The main objective of the initiative in its second phase is the conservation of natural resources, and enhancing efficiency and customer service standards,” said executive vice president of customer services at Dewa Abdullah Al Hajri. He said discussions were being held with various government organisations and institutions to encourage them to implement the GreenBill concept too.“This initiative will help in preserving natural resources, and it would not be possible without the concentrated efforts of our customers. We look forward to continuously leveraging on new electronic services, in line with our objectives and values for sustainability,” said Al Hajri.Dewa launched the GreenBill system to help customers obtain information and enable them to manage transactions electronically. It takes into account best environmental practices and ensures environmental sustainability, for generations to come. The electronic billing service builds on Dewa’s ‘Serving you more with e-Convenience’ campaign to encourage customers to use its e-Services and familiarise themselves with its wide range of offerings. It implemented the first phase of the GreenBill after analysing customers’ feedback following its soft-launch last year.Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, said, “We are committed to upholding international standards in preserving the environment, and the second phase of the GreenBill builds on our strategy to support green initiatives in the region,” said Al Tayer.Al Hajri said the GreenBill’s second phase will further add to the convenience of customers, and contribute significantly to the sustainable development initiatives of Dewa source : khaleejtimes.com
