Dr. Ali bin Mas'oud al-Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry met in his office here today with Pierre Laporte, Minister of Finance, Trade & Investment in the Republic of Seychelles, who is currently visiting the Sultanate. The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation between the Sultanate and the Republic of Seychelles in the field of raising the trade and investment exchange and enhancing the potential of direct shipping between Salalah Port and Port of Victoria in the Republic of Seychelles. The guest extended his country's thanks to the Sultanate of Oman for the efforts being exerted by the Sultanate to assist the Republic of Seychelles to join the World Trade Organization (WTO). The two sides also discussed promoting the trade relations between the two countries. The meeting was attended by Charles Morin, expert on Seychelles accession to WTO, Celia Mangro, Director General of the Trade Sector and Cindy Chan Lange, senior official of Trade of the Republic of Seychelles. It was attended from the Omani side by Said bin Nassir al-Khusaibi, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles to the Sultanate, Dr. Said bin A'mir al-Riyami, Economic Expert at the Directorate General of Organizations and Trade Relations at the Ministry, Helda bint Ali al-Hina'eyah, Director of the Sultanate's Office at WTO and Head of the Working Team concerned with Seychelles accession to WTO.
