Dubai - Arabstoday

UAE railway project, connecting all major cities and towns of the country, has just gotten its first running start. Etihad Rail awarded a contract for a whopping Dh40 billion railway project to PCM Strescon Overseas Ventures Limited. Etihad Rail is laying the first tracks for the 1,200km network next year. PCM is going to design and manufacture the railway sleepers for the proposed railway. The firm will also build a facility for phase one of the railway network, the 266km route linking Shah, Habshan and Ruwais in Abu Dhabi's Western Region. "We are delighted to announce that Etihad Rail will be working with PCM Strescon, a leader in the industry," Etihad Rail CEO Richard Bowker said. PCM Strescon is a leading manufacturer of pre-stressed concrete sleepers. It operates two factories in Saudi Arabia, having supplied more than 2.6 million sleepers to the North South Railway Project of Saudi Arabian Railways.
