 Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher Tuesday as traders'sentiment was lifted by a buoyant overnight performance in the U.S. stocks market.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 139.98 points, or 0. 91 percent, higher from Monday to end the morning session at 15, 462.58.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.07 points, or 0.63 percent, to 1,279. 33.
Gainers were led by oil and coal products, nonferrous metal as well as utility issues.
