Tokyo shares close slightly higher

Tokyo shares ended slightly higher Monday following gains in the U.S. market on Friday, but the gains were limited due to a pause in the U.S. dollars' appreciation.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 36.43 points, or 0.23 percent, from Friday to close at 15,705.11.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 5.43 points, or 0.42 percent, at 1,298. 64.
Gainers were led by consumer finance, utility and construction shares.
The turnover was about 1,524.0 billion yen (about 14.51 billion dollars).
