Nikkei opens 0.25 % higher

Nikkei opened slightly higher Wednesday. In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 22.99 points, or 0.25 percent, from Tuesday's close to 9,056.28. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 1.85 points, or 0.25 percent, to 748.15.
