new series of market inspections for the holy month of Ramadan.
Abu Dhabi - WAM

The UAE Ministry of Economy yesterday started a new series of market inspections for the holy month of Ramadan.

In the last two weeks, the ministry inspected vegetable, fruit, meat, chicken, and fish markets across the UAE.

The ministry's inspection of Lulu Hypermarket in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi today was coordinated with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.

During the inspection, the management of Lulu Hypermarket announced that it has reduced the prices of more than 5,000 food articles worth AED 25 million during the month of Ramadan. It also locked the price of 135 products throughout the year in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.

On the sidelines of the visit, Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Ministry’s Consumer Protection Department, praised the Lulu Hypermarket management for installing 60 display screens to raise awareness on consumer protection.

Al Nuaimi also urged consumers to contact the ministry’s consumer protection center at 600522225 and the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi at 800 555 for any complaints, comments or proposals about consumer protection.
