Internet shopping fraud jumps more than 50 pct

The number of swindled online shoppers jumped more than 50 percent last year from two years earlier in South Korea, one of the world's most densely wired countries, police said on Wednesday. A total of 26,826 people were arrested last year on charges of duping online shoppers through a variety of fraudulent transactions in cyberspace, the National Police Agency said in data submitted to ruling party lawmaker Yoon Seok-yong.
