Riyadh - Arab Today

The Riyadh College of Technology (RCT) and Bechtel Saudi Arabia signed recently a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to train and employ Saudis to lessen dependence on foreign manpower.
The MoU, signed in the run-up to the implementation of the new Nitaqat next month, was also in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030.
Under the agreement, Saudis will be trained in the fields of architecture, civil and technical IT as well as space technology.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Tariq Al-Zahrani, director at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development in Riyadh and Hussein Al-Fadli, secretary general of the Council of Saudi Engineers.
The move was geared toward the expansion of strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors to implement programs based on the actual need of the market.
Abdul Rahman Al-Ghabban, deputy regional director for Bechtel Saudi Arabia, confirmed that his company was keen to attract qualified Saudis to work for it.
He added that Bechtel had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to attract graduates of RTC to work in its projects all over the Kingdom.
This was due to RTC’s excellence in technical and professional fields as well as in compliance with the Kingdom’s Saudization program. “This partnership aims to meet the company’s needs for professionals in the areas of construction,” he added.
Bechtel Saudi Arabia had found RTC as the right partner due to its technical staff who are needed in the rehabilitation of technical capacity for field work.
The MoU has stipulated that the trainee was entitled to annual bonus during his training in college. Bechtel would also give a monthly salary of more than SR7,400 that includes allowances, in addition to overtime according to the nature of work in the company.
