Drydocks World announced on Wednesday that its Chairman Khamis Juma Buamim had highly productive discussions with the Indonesian minister on wide ranging issues of mutual co-operation within the maritime industry. Chairman of the Drydocks World, one of the world’s leading maritime service providers had discussions with the Indonesian Defence Minister Prof. Dr Purnomo Yusgiantoro with a primary focus on potential partnership on projects for the coast guard and navy. Buamim was in a business trip tour to Indonesia and attended the Investment Summit in Jakarta, which saw large scale interest from industry and business leaders and high-ranking government officials. A Momorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Drydocks World and PAL Indonesia, which has 26 years of experience in ship repairs general engineering and design, building commercial and naval ships and high-speed vessels. The MoU was signed by Khamis Juma Buamim and Muhammad Firmansyah Arifin, Chairman of PAL Indonesia and was aimed at mutual co-operation in shipbuilding, general engineering and other relevant areas. The scope of the Momorandum of Understanding also stretches to maintenance of oil and gas equipment and offshore structures, an area, which is of sustained interest to Drydocks World and its Southeast Asia joint venture and global operations. Khamis Juma Buamim said: “We have tremendous experience in servicing the maritime industry with leading edge solutions and are confident that we can offer great value and support the Indonesian government on naval projects.” “This is in the light we have been catering to navies on a global scale at various points of time and have high standards of project management and delivery that are essential for minimising risks to naval programme budgets and timescales. Additionally, we are interested in knowledge and technology transfer to enable the design and construction of increasingly sophisticated high-end customised vessels,” Buamim observed. Drydocks World and Maritime World, the prominent marine and maritime services and global provider, also participated in Adipec 2012, the leading exhibition in the Middle East targeting the offshore oil and energy sectors, being organised from Nov.11-14 at Adnec. The Company is featuring some of its recent large scale projects in repair, conversion and new build for global giants in oil, gas and energy, at its stand, as part of its business strategy to make a mark on these rapidly evolving sectors.   “We have consistently taken great strides towards catering to the offshore oil, gas and energy sectors with value added services and cutting-edge offerings. Occupational Health, Safety and Quality of excellence are of the highest priority in our agenda and this has been widely recognised by global oil and gas companies. Our participation in the show this year is to update the industry about these projects and future possibilities,” said Khamis Juma Buamim. From Gulf Today
