Ghada Waly
Cairo - MENA

The Ministries of Social Solidarity and Foreign Affairs signed Thursday a 2-million-dollar cooperation deal with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on developing institutional capabilities and human resources.

Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly signed the deal with UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt Anita Nirody and Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Sherif Refaat.

The assistant administrator and director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, Sima Bahouth, attended the inking ceremony along with top officials at the Social Solidarity Minister and the UNDP.

Under the three-year deal, the UNDP will hone institutional capabilities of the Social Solidarity Ministry and coordinate social policies between the ministry and other ministries.

The development program will promote social justice and serve the interests of the poor, she said.
