The UAE has been ranked first among Arab countries in terms of quality and performance of postal services.

Chairman of Emirates Post Group, Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, said that the UAE's top regional ranking on the Integrated Index for Postal Development, 2IPD, is a great achievement, and constitutes a new element on the postal policy map for the future, according to the global perspective. Emirates Post is able to contribute and participate strongly and effectively in the development of postal services locally and abroad, he added.

He highlighted that this classification is an international recognition of the UAE's contribution to providing a number of initiatives for the development of the Universal Postal Union, UPU, and other postal institutions in member countries. He went on to say that the group's strategy is in line with the directives of the wise leadership of the UAE to make governmental services serve as centres of innovation and development, in addition to ensuring customer satisfaction.

The acting CEO of Emirates Post Group, Abdullah Mohammed Al Ashram, confirmed that the international classification is adding to the UAE's register of accomplishments in the postal services sector, saying that the country was elected to be a member of the UPU Board of Directors for 2017-2020, during elections recently held in Istanbul.

The UAE has also won the Silver award for best country in the field of international courier services, thus becoming the first Arab nation to take the accolade since its launch in 2001 by the International Courier Mail Cooperative Association of the UPU, Al Ashram said.

Al Qadi congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and Their Highnesses the Crown Princes, on the nation's latest postal services achievement.
